Police launch appeal after distraction burglar steals cash from pensioner in Willesborough, Ashford

Police are hunting a thief posing as a duster and magnifying glass salesman who stole cash from a pensioner's home.

The 79-year-old woman fell victim to the distraction burglary in her home in Willesborough Ashford after the man turned up on her doorstep.

She invited him in because she was interested in the magnifying glass, but the man stole £20 in cash from a worktop.

Police are appealing for witnesses.

The theft happened on Friday, April 29 between 2.15pm and 2.30pm.

Police say they are looking for a white man between the age of 20 and 30, who is 5ft 11in tall, of medium build with blonde hair.

He was wearing a blue jacket with badges and had a blue bag.
