DETECTIVES are appealing for witnesses after a woman was assaulted beside a lake at a Kent beauty spot.

Police officers today sealed off one side of Singleton Lake at Ashford and combed the ground for clues. Forensic experts carried out examinations from a white tent which was erected on the lake edge.

The woman was assaulted between 8pm and 10pm last night. A man is in custody helping police with their enquiries.
