Two men were chased on foot by police following a break-in at a Tesco Express.

Officers were called to the store in Mill Court off Mace Lane, Ashford, at 1.20am.

Police arrested a 36-year-old man, of no fixed address, and a 18-year-old from the town on suspicion of burglary.

The stolen goods were recovered and the pair remain in custody.

The Tesco store, which closes at 11pm every night, was gutted in an arson attack in March last year and reopened just five months ago following a lengthy refurbishment.
