Parts of the scaffolding encasing Ashford Police Station were dislodged by this morning's storm force winds.

The main entrance to the station in Tufton Street was temporarily closed by safety fears, but has now re-opened.

Last year the Kentish Express reported how the future of Ashford police station was in doubt because of concerns over its age, structure and efficiency.

The entrance has been blocked off

At the time, Kent Police confirmed they were considering what lies ahead for the Tufton Street building, which was built in 1968 and opened a year later.

Access has been suspended as a precaution due to high winds affecting scaffolding

Scaffolding has surrounded the building for several years now and workers have been carrying out inspections to determine what sort of condition the building is in.
