Police swarm Gilbert Road, off New Street in Ashford

A man has been arrested following a 'disturbance' in a town centre this afternoon.

There was a heavy police presence outside a property backing onto a tattoo shop in Gilbert Road, off New Street in Ashford.

Around 10 officers are at the scene

Ten officers and a police dog were spotted outside, as well as two police cars.

A police spokesman said: "We were called to New Street, Ashford at 1.05pm following a report of a disturbance.

"A man has been arrested and police are on the scene."
