A new on-demand food delivery service has launched in Kent for the first time.

Takeaway Taxi - which is similar to Uber Eats and Deliveroo - has been set up in Ashford.

It allows customers to order food from restaurants using the website and get it delivered to their front door.

The company is currently recruiting drivers

So far, six companies - McDonald's, Subway, KFC, Chiquito, Burger King and convenience store in Ashford - have all signed up.

The company is currently recruiting drivers to deliver the food to homes to all areas of the town.

Earlier this year, Deliveroo postponed plans to launch its popular food delivery service in the town.

The firm is yet to confirm a revised launch date.

Milon Miah, 38, set up the Takeaway Taxi company eight years ago in Ipswich.

He said: "Our aim is to reach 20 locations by 2020 and I wanted to start up somewhere a little bit of a distance away from Ipswich.

"We have already launched in Ashford and have been getting good feedback.

"We have a different model to other delivery companies and pay our workers higher rates in return for higher standards."
