The union rep at Ashford sorting office has died suddenly at work.

Dave Hall, who was 62, was planning to retire from a lifetime career in the Post Office next year.

Colleagues have paid tribute to a “larger than life” character, who lived in Hythe.

The Kent Air Ambulance responded to a 999 call and landed at Ashford School on Monday, as it is the closest open space to the Tannery Lane sorting office.

Mr Hall was pronounced dead when medics arrived.

Perry Wilsher, a colleague who had known Mr Hall for 30 years, said: “He had a massive personality.

“He was always willing to help others and cared a lot about everyone’s troubles.”

Mr Hall leaves a wife and two children.
