Stunning pictures show shooting stars falling over Ashford taken from the Wye downs

A keen photographer managed to snap these stunning pictures of stars shooting over Ashford last night.

Nineteen-year-old Chris Wood captured the shower of shooting stars from the Wye Downs.

The former Norton Knatchbull student said: “On clear nights I like to take my camera out. I went down to Wye last night to try and get a good picture because there was too much light in Ashford.”

Spectators have the annual Perseids meteor shower to thank for the shooting stars that have been falling from UK skies over the past few nights.

The shower can usually be seen every year between August 10-13.

Hothfield resident Chris studied photography at A Level, and now likes to take pictures in his spare time.

He added: “I would like to have a career as a photographer, but it is very competitive.”
