Teenagers arrested after reports of gang with weapons in Ashford town centre

Six people have been arrested after a disturbance in Ashford town centre.

Officers had been called to County Square at 1.30pm to reports of a group of people seen carrying weapons.

The teens, aged 16 and 17, are both from the local area and have been taken into custody as inquiries continue.

A further four people, whose ages are not yet known, have since been detained.

Police have not yet confirmed why the group were arrested.

All six will be arrested today (Wednesday).

No one was injured during the incident.

Officers remain at the scene conductig stop and searches as appropriate.

Schools have since sent out emails alerting parents of the incident.
