Stolen statue: police appeal to find £10,000 marble statue of Lord Byron

A statue of a British poet worth around £10,000 has been stolen from Godmersham Park.

Police are now appealing for information after the 4ft tall, sold marble statue of British poet Lord Byron went missing.

Officers believe the "extremely heavy" figure was taken between midnight and 5am on Wednesday.

A force spokesman said: "The statue is extremely heavy and would have required a number of people to manoeuvre it."

Officers are asking anyone with information to call them on 01843 222289 or Kent Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111 quoting reference ZY/012828/16.
