An entrepreneurial teenager took his sweet treats to be tried and tested at Wye farmer’s market.

Louis Callaghan-Inge, 13, took his stall, The Bubble Waffle Company, to the market for the first time on Saturday.

The schoolboy from Maidstone was inspired by street food in Hong Kong on a family holiday, and with the help of his family, he visits different markets around the county.

Louis bought the special waffle making machine from Gumtree, which replicates the Asian style treat in pockets of batter.

He said: “It went really well. We almost ran out! It was one of the best ones that we have done. Now I’m more relaxed with it.

“It’s nice when you see a queue, I like it when people are enjoying the product.

“One of them asked if we were going to return. It’s the children that really like the waffles.”

Louis enjoys going to farmers’ markets himself, and uses eggs from a local farm to support the aims of the market.

He plans to return to the Wye market again, and also has fetes and more events lined up for the summer.

He said: “I want to do it every week. It’s a busy year but I’m excited though.”

Louis’ dad Nick said: “His confidence has really grown. It’s brought him on so much.”
