Tennager arrested over bag snatch bike robberies

Police have arrested an 18-year-old man in connection with three robberies in Ashford.

The Ashford resident has been questioned in relation to three robberies in which women had their handbags or purses grabbed from a man riding past on a bike.

He has been questioned and released on bail until June 20 when he must attend Folkestone police station.

The latest incident happened in Kingsnorth Road, Ashford, on Wednesday, May 5, between 12.15pm and 12.30pm.

The first incident was on April 26 in Beaver Road when a 46-year-old woman had a purse snatched from her hand.

The second incident happened in Kingsnorth Road on May 4 between 1pm and 1.28pm.

A 36-year-old woman was walking back to work during her lunch break after visiting the Post Office in the town centre.

A man on a bike rode past her and grabbed her handbag containing money, bank cards, a mobile phone and a diary.
