Two thugs have robbed a tourist after he asked them for directions to the nearest cash machine.

They followed the trusting 68-year-old to the machine in Folkestone and pulled him to the ground, stealing his bank card and £200.

The victim had just arrived at his hotel in the town on Monday when he decided to find the local cash machine.

As he made his way into the town, between 5.30pm and 6pm, he asked two men to help him find an ATM and they directed him to Guildhall Street.

Moments after he withdrew money from the machine, the victim was pulled down before the robbers ran off.

The man then noticed his card and the cash he had just withdrawn were missing from his trouser pocket.

The first man police are seeking is described as about 19, 5ft 6in, with an Asian accent, short straight dark brown hair, clean shaven, of slim build and was wearing a three-quarter length jacket and jeans.

The second man is described as between 20 and 23, 5ft 9in, with dark brown hair, clean-shaven and wearing a three-quarter length duffle coat.

Police in particular need help from a member of the public who answered the victim's calls for help at the ATM and walked him back to his hotel.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to phone DC Darren Brough, at Kent Police, by phoning 101, quoting crime reference number ZY/034473/12.
