Traffic lights stuck on red meant a key roundabout on the M20 was gridlocked for around four hours.

It happened at the Ashford South turn-off (junction 10) where it meets the A20 at around 4.45pm.

Traffic was backed up all the way back to the Ashford/Faversham turn-off (junction 9 of A20) and on A2070 Kennington Road to Yeoman Gardens as engineers were called to the scene to fix the problem.

A crash involving two cars at Junction 10 westbound also added to delays with one lane of the carriageway blocked for around 30 minutes.

Highways England said the traffic lights had been fixed and traffic was easing at 8.40pm.
