Television chat show host Paul O’Grady is due to open the Aldington Primary School summer fete at 2pm on Saturday, July 4.

Mr O’Grady, who lives in the village, will welcome visitors to the event which, because of the date on which it is being held, has an American Independence Day theme.

There will be American themed stalls, while the Swingtime Sweethearts 40s wartime and swing duo – runners-up in the Britain’s Got Talent semi-finals – will entertain at the refreshments tent.

Other attractions will include tae kwon do and falconry displays, steam train rides, a giant bouncy slide, barbecue and bar, face painting and tombolas.

The Kentish Express newspaper incorrectly stated that the fete was being held this Saturday (June 27). We apologise for the error.
