Ambulance and fire crews called to Giggers Green Road, in Aldington, near Ashford, after car carrying two people crashes into a ditch

A pensioner needed medical treatment after a car left the road and landed in a ditch.

The emergency services were called to Giggers Green Road last night at 7.10pm to a report two people were trapped in a car.

It is understood the vehicle had left the road and landed in a verge in marshland.

Fire crews, police and the ambulance service all attended the scene to help rescue the two occupants.

The ambulance came about 90 minutes late. Stock picture.

However, they had managed to get themselves out the vehicle by the time crews arrived.

A man, believed to be in his 80s, who was struggling to catch his breath, was given medical care at the scene.
