VILLAGERS in Lyminge, near Folkestone, will have the opportunity to question police officers about crime issues that matter to them at a public meeting.

The Kent Police Authority is staging the event at the Methodist Church Hall in the village from 7.30pm on Wednesday, September 25, when police officers, councillors and Shepway District Council officials and a representative from Kent County Council's youth and community team will be present.

Area commander Supt Steve Harris will give a brief police presentation, but the main part of the evening will be taken up with an open forum when residents will be able to air their views.

Ann Barnes, a member of the Kent Police Authority, said: "The authority welcomes the opportunity to hear at first hand the policing issues which particularly concern the residents of Lyminge and the surrounding areas.

"We hope as many people as possible will come to the meeting to put their point of view and to discuss how local communities can work with the police to reduce crime and disorder in the area and improve the quality of life."
