A WOMAN fell to her death from a bridge on the coastbound carriageway of the M20 motorway in Kent.

Police were called to the Canterbury Road Bridge at Ashford shortly before 11am on Thursday. They say the woman died at the scene.

There were major traffic delays after police officers cordoned off the area to assist with their investigation into the tragedy. All lanes of the motorway were reopened by about 2.15pm.

Senior police officers say they are not treating the woman's death as suspicious.
