RESCUER: Peter Holden

A MAN who stopped a young woman jumping from a Kent bridge says he acted purely on instinct.

Peter Holden, 59, of Flaxpond Road, Ashford, saw the woman walking in the middle of the road and then followed her as she made for a bridge near Ashford International Station.

He said: "She was three quarters of the way over the bridge when I grabbed her legs. In the end it was just instinct. She was jumping, and I wasn't going to let her."

Police said the woman was now in the care of health authorities.
