Young man arrested after suspicious flat fire in Ashford

An Ashford teenager has been arrested and bailed after a suspicious fire on Friday night.

Firefighters and police were called to a ground floor flat in Bond Road, South Ashford at midnight. No one was injured.

A 19-year-old man was arrested shortly afterwards. He was questioned by police and released on bail.

Meanwhile, 10 firefighters tackled a blaze at a flat in Old High Street, Folkestone, which is also thought to have been started deliberately.

The fire broke out at around 10.40pm Friday.

Two families had to be re-housed by the Red Cross. The charity often helps people affected by house fires.
