Ashford sailor Sophie Ainsworth says she is absolutely thrilled after being named in the Great Britain sailing squad for the Rio Olympics.

The 26-year-old, who learned to sail at Bewl Water near Tunbridge Wells, has been selected in the 49er FX class with partner Charlotte Dobson.

They tweeted: "It's hard to put into words how we feel, we are absolutely thrilled and want to make the most of this incredible opportunity."

Now based in Weymouth, they were first paired together in 2013, and have performed impressively on the world stage since.

Fifth and seventh places in the 2014/15 Rio test events were followed by another fifth place finish in last year's World Championships.

Ainsworth was a European Champion in the 470 class in 2012, and trained with London Olympic silver medal winners Hannah Mills and Saskia Clark.
