ASHFORD Town moved to within two points of Lords East Kent League leaders Sandwich Town, thanks to a handsome 86-run win over visitors Nonington.

Skipper Liam Tegg won the toss and elected to bat. It was a decision that was quickly vindicated when openers Luke Reeves and Darren Bailey put on 140, although Bailey was the first to go with a well-fashioned 62.

Tegg then came to the crease and added 80 more runs partnering Reeves, who was dismissed for 96, a knock that featured 11 boundaries.

The skipper continued the assault of the bowling attack, cracking five fours and seven sixes in making 75.

Gary Sutton (31) and Simon Taylor (17) added vital runs in establising a total of 305-7 from 40 overs.
