Highfield increase lead at the top

With just two games surviving the weekend weather, Highfield United boosted their position at the top of the Ashford & District Sunday League first division with a hard-fought 3-2 win at Lydd.

Acer Mackenzie and Lloyd Dehara put Highfield 2-0 up at half-time. Michael Laker and Luke Webb put Lydd back in the game only for another Mackenzie goal to secure the points.

Shadoxhurst strengthened their grip on Division 3 with a 4-0 home win over The Locomotive Inn, their ninth win in 10 games.

Kirk Howard with a brace and strikes by John Gibbs and Andy Hone kept them well on track for promotion.
