Market Hotel make most of opportunity

Only one game survived in the Ashford and District Sunday League but it produced 10 goals as Market Hotel handed out a 7-3 defeat to bottom club Ashford Cavaliers.

Scott McRobert’s opener for Market was quickly cancelled out by Kevin Freand but Dan Cornell then rattled in a first-half hat-trick to move the Market 4-1 in front.

Cornell’s fourth, early in the second half was countered by Cavaliers’ second, from Andrew Wood before Cornell’s fifth from a Keith Mason cross made it 6-2.

Michael Perry pulled another one back for Cavaliers but McRobert had the final word, with a fine solo break from the halfway, just before the final whistle was blown.
