Steve Lovell is delighted with his team after four successive wins

Ashford Town manager Steve Lovell has praised his side’s ability to adapt following a season-best four consecutive league wins.

The Nuts and Bolts came from behind to beat Crowborough 3-1 in Ryman League Division 1 South on Saturday and Lovell was pleased with the way his side played in difficult conditions.

Lovell said: “It was a horrible game for football. We just had to get through it and that’s what we did.

“The wind was bad and the pitch wasn’t ideal but I was pleased with the way we adapted to the conditions.

“We prefer to play a passing game but we mixed it up on Saturday and created a lot of chances.

“We’ve had to adapt the way we play to suit the conditions over the last few weeks and I’ve been delighted with the mixture of good footballing and battling performances we’ve been able to produce.”

Lovell is also happy with the amount of chances his side have put away during their winning streak and is hoping the trend continues when they travel to Walton Casuals on Saturday.

He said: “We’ve been creating plenty of chances and converting a high percentage of them. Hopefully, we can continue to do that.

“Walton will be difficult. You can’t go by where people are in the league in this division as we found out on Saturday against Crowborough.

“We’ll have to make sure we prepare properly, concentrate on not being over-confident and be sure to do our jobs.”

James Humphrey should return to the squad on Saturday but Lee Hockey has left the club after finding his first team chances limited.

Jimmy Corbett, released by Folkestone Invicta this week, won’t be joining Town but Lovell has refused to rule out more changes.
