Bexley murder investigation launched after woman, 66, found dead in Becketts Close

A murder investigation has been launched after a woman was found dead last night.

The Metropolitan Police were called to Becketts Close, Bexley , where the body of a 66-year-old was found inside a house at around 9.15pm.

The woman's body was found in a house in Becketts Close

Paramedics from the London Ambulance Service attended but she was pronounced dead at the scene.

Her death is being treated as suspicious and formal identification, as well as a post-mortem, are being scheduled.

The woman's next of kin are aware.

One man was arrested on suspicion of murder and taken to a police station in south London where he remains in custody.

Police believe the man and victim are known to each other.

DCI Mick Norman said: “We are at the very early stages of our investigation. We have arrested a man and our inquiries continue at a pace.

“Our thoughts are with the deceased’s family at this sad time.

"I urge anyone who has information, but has not yet come forward, to get in touch without delay.”
