Woman threatened at gunpoint by man who breaks into her Orpington home

A woman was threatened at gunpoint after a man broke into her home.

Police were called out to an address in Orpington during the early hours of this morning after the man broke into her home while she slept.

Once inside he then threatened her with the weapon.

Firearm officers from the Metropolitan Police were called to the property and were able to arrest the man.

The woman was not injured during the incident.

A spokesman for the Metropolitan Police said: "Police were called shortly before 2am on Friday, to a residential address in the Orpington area.

"A man was subsequently arrested on suspicion offences including possession of a firearm.

"He remains in custody at a south London police station."
