A man's been rescued after getting stuck waist deep in mud near Faversham.

The mud rescue victim is tended to by the emergency services

Firefighters and coastguards battled against the incoming tide to rescue a man stuck up to his waist in mud near Faversham last night.

The victim, aged 49, is thought to have got trapped while attempting to get to his boat in Oare Creek.

Firemen from Whitstable together with the mud rescue unit from Herne Bay coastguard were called to the scene shortly before 6.45pm.

The man is thought to have been stuck for an hour and calling for help before the emergency services were alerted.

After being freed, he was taken to hospital by paramedics suffering from exposure.
