Police and Highways Agency have closed the A2 northbound between Denton and Canterbury after a cyclist was injured in an accident.

They were called at 9.30am after it was reported that the cyclist came off his bike near Barham. They closed the carriageway northbound from the A260 at Denton and the A2050 in Canterbury.

Police launched blitz on uninsured motorists

A spokesman for Kent Police said: "The main carriageway was closed and traffic diverted at the Denton slip road, but is due to be opened shortly."

He added that there were no other vehicles involved in the incident.

The Highways Agency say motorists can expect a ten minute delay, but the road should reopen at 12pm today.
