Air ambulance called to Canterbury after woman falls from bike in St Thomas Hill

An air ambulance was called to Canterbury after a woman fell from her bike this morning.

Police and paramedics were also alerted after the cyclist was spotted on the ground near the junction with University Road.

Students in a nearby house are said to have gone to her aid before emergency crews arrived shortly before 11am.

Police say no other vehicles were involved in the incident and it is thought the cyclist may have suffered a medical episode.

An air ambulance landed in the playing fields of the nearby St Edmund's School, but was not needed.

The woman was taken to hospital by road.
