Police are investigating after a woman was assaulted and several cars damaged in the early hours of this morning.

Officers were called to Mortimer Street in Herne Bay at 6.40am.

They arrested a 25-year-old man from Canterbury on suspicion of assault and causing criminal damage.

He is currently being questioned in police custody.

Forensic officers returned to the scene this afternoon in two police vans, to collect evidence.
