A motorist was left wondering if he was in a dream after a man climbed across the roof of his car in Canterbury.

Jack Fitzpatrick captured the bizarre turn of events on his dashcam while he was driving in Tower Way, near Westgate Towers, last month.

The car technician - who was collecting a Five Guys order - was forced to press down on his brakes when a woman "jolted" in front of his Ford Fiesta ST.

And as has his vehicle stood stationary in the road a man, who was with the woman, clambered onto the bonnet of his car, before crawling across its top on all fours.

"I saw three people standing next to a taxi, who I thought were getting in or out of it, so I held back a bit in case anyone walked into the road," the 23-year-old said.

"The taxi drove off and just as I started to accelerate away, one of the girls jolted into the road which caught me off guard.

"I hadn’t brought my clutch up that far so I put it quickly back down again and pressed down the brake as I didn’t want to run anyone over.

"At that point, this bloke started to walk into the road and I thought he was going to say something like, ‘what are you doing revving your engine?’.

"I have a sports exhaust on my car and it’s not exactly quiet but it was just me bringing my clutch up."

But Mr Fitzpatrick says he could not predict what was about to happen next.

"I was not expecting him to climb on the bonnet, over the windscreen and over the roof," he added.

"He slid down the left hand side of the car and he wasn’t dancing on it or anything like that."

The man did not cause any damage to the car, which Mr Fitzpatrick was “very happy about”.

However, the driver says the incident left him in disbelief.

"Everyone else I spoke to about it says they would’ve punched him," he continued.

"I thought ‘am I dreaming?’ because it was so surreal."

The footage appears to show the two women dragging the man away from the scene before Mr Fitzpatrick drove off.

The incident - which took place just after 9.30pm on December 16 - was not reported to police.
