17-year-old boy from London charged with attempted 'acid attack' in Canterbury

A 17-year-old boy has been charged after a suspected 'acid attack' bid in Canterbury city centre, on Friday.

The boy, from London, has been charged with two attempts to cause grievous bodily harm.

He has been remanded in police custody and will appear before court tomorrow.

The reported assaults took place in the Rheims Way and St Peter’s Place areas of Canterbury on Friday.

Three people went to a local hospital as a precaution and received medical attention before being discharged.

Police have confirmed a noxious substance was sprayed during the assault but it is not yet known exactly what the liquid was.

Sources at the time suggested the substance was thrown at four people in two separate locations.
