Return To The Forbidden Planet will be staged at Whitstable’s High Street Playhouse and opens on Wednesday . It runs until Saturday, July 30.

Sandi, who is chairman of BBC Radio 4’s News Quiz, said she was delighted to accept when asked to take on the role of the newscaster.

She first became acquainted with Theatrecraft when she and a friend by chance saw its production of Sleeping Beauty at the King’s Hall in January.

Although act one was over they both stayed to watch the second act and were enthusiastic about the production, joining in and thoroughly enjoying the audience participation. Later they asked if they could be added to the group’s mailing list for all future productions.

Sandi’s video narration as the newscaster is an integral part of the show and will guide the audience through the inter galactic experience which is Return To The Forbidden Planet.

The show’s director Debi Lovell said: “Theatrecraft would like to thank Sandi Toksvig for her time and the commitment she has shown to the group, especially in light of her heavy work schedule.”
