Canterbury went top of the EHL Men’s Conference East following a sixth straight win on Saturday.

A 5-1 win over Chelmsford, coupled with a defeat for fellow title hopefuls Old Loughtonians, sees Canterbury pull out a three point lead at the top.

Canterbury went ahead with a goal from Ben Harewith 25 minutes in and just before the break the lead was doubled with a strike from Matthew Tang Nian.

Bottom side Chelmsford pulled one back but moments later Andrew Sutherland converted a penalty corner to make it 3-1.

A fourth goal came from Leigh Barratt, again from a penalty corner.

Canterbury Ladies narrowly avoided a slip-up at bottom place Trojans in the EHL Women’s Premier Division.

Mel Clewlow scored the only goal of the game from a penalty corner with 14 minutes gone to seal a 1-0 win.

Before the match Trojans had taken just one point from their first nine league games.

Canterbury are sitting sixth in the table and it was their second successive victory, coming off the back of six league games without a win.
