Canterbury Hockey Club's fine start to the Investec Women's Hockey League Premier Division continued on Saturday with a memorable 2-1 win against champions Leicester.

The city club are only behind leaders Surbiton on goal difference following their victory at Polo Farm, all the goals coming in the second half.

Sarah Kerly gave the hosts the lead five minutes after the break through a penalty corner and although Jo Hunter drew Leicester level, Eliza Brett (pictured) secured the win with a strike from another set-piece six minutes from time.

Canterbury's men recorded another win to stay second in the Premier Division, however they were made to work hard against bottom-placed Surbiton.

Keeper Diccon Stubbings was their hero, making a string of good saves before James Gall put the hosts ahead on 51 minutes, only for Michael Farrer to level from a penalty corner five minutes later.

Kwan Browne grabbed the points a minute from time with another set-piece conversion for the city club while Stubbings kept out a James Tindall penalty to ensure the points which kept Canterbury within three points of leaders Beeston.
