A poor display saw Canterbury beaten 12-11 away at Lydney in National 2 South on Saturday.

In a low quality affair, it was really a question of which of the sides was the poorer.

What separated them at the final whistle was the accurate goal kicking of Lydney full-back Brett Turner who punished the city side with four long-range penalty goals.

Tom Best kicked a couple in reply and Canterbury scored the only try but failed to capitalise on an improved second half showing when Lydney barely threatened their line.
