Canterbury’s superb start to the season continued with a 4-2 win at reigning National Premier Division champions East Grinstead on Sunday.

The Sussex side have won the title the past two seasons and in three of the last four years and the victory means the city club have now recorded victories at big-guns East Grinstead, Reading and Surbiton in their six wins from seven games.

The newly-promoted side remain three points behind leaders Beeston, who beat Loughborough, and are five points clear of third-placed Cannock.

A penalty corner conversion from David Mathews on 20 minutes opened the scoring but the hosts levelled through Adam Jordan two minutes before the break.

Chris Sleeman restored the city club's advantage on 48 minutes and four minutes later, Stuart Goodman made it 3-1.

Mark Glenhorne set Canterbury nerves jangling with a second for East Grinstead from the penalty spot three minutes from time but Liam Foster made it 4-2 with a last-minute strike.
