Canterbury crash leaves pensioner injured after car hits planter

A man in his 80s has been taken to hospital after crashing into a planter in Canterbury.

Police were called just after 11am to the accident near The Jolly Sailor pub in Northgate.

The man, who was driving a blue Ford Fiesta, was treated by ambulance crews for injuries to his head and hand.

He had hit a bollard before going into the planter, damaging the car's front bodywork.

Secamb spokesman Rich Airey said: "The man had injured his head and hand and was treated at the scene by the crew before being taken to the QEQM hospital in Margate."
