CCTV images of man released after ‘attempted sex attack’ in Canterbury

A man reportedly tried to sexually assault a woman near a city centre park in the early hours of the morning.

Detectives say the alleged victim was grabbed on the shoulder by a man as she walked from Canterbury East Station Bridge towards Castle Row, near Dane John Gardens.

The incident happened between 1am and 1.30am on Saturday, June 24.

A police spokesman said: “The victim cried out for help and a member of the public intervened, who chased the suspect away.

“Officers have issued CCTV images of a man they want to identify as he may have information which could assist them.

“They are keen to find the member of the public who intervened during the incident and came to the victim’s aid.”
