Struggling to get to grips with Canterbury City Council’s confusing new bin system?

Fear not, because the authority has created a QVC-style video to talk residents through the ins and outs of the controversial scheme.

Starring press officer Rob Davies, the three-minute clip describes how and when people should dispose of their rubbish and recycling.

Talking over background music best-suited to a dentist’s waiting room, Mr Davies is supported by his able assistant Mariah Young, who shows off the council’s new props.

It is thought the video was filmed in Canterbury’s Lenley’s store.

It was produced after a string of complaints about the new waste collection system, which has seen most homes in the Canterbury district given four new bins to go with two they already have.

The aim of the scheme is to encourage more recycling, but only last month a rogue binman was spotted dumping carefully sorted waste in the same bin.
