A PE teacher and his wife accused of controlling prostitution have had their case transferred to Canterbury Crown Court.

Tim and Emma Blake-Bowell, of Querns Road, Canterbury, who have withheld pleas to the charges, appeared before city magistrates on Wednesday.

The couple, aged 46 and 35, are charged under section 53 of the Sexual Offences Act 2003.

Tim Blake-Bowell is a veteran Canterbury Hockey Club player, a former member of Chestfield Cricket Club and used to teach at King Ethelbert School in Birchington.

The couple are due to make their first appearance before a judge on July 14.
