THOUSANDS of people descended on Faversham town centre
this weekend for the annual Hop Festival.

With three main stages for music and song plus dozens of stalls
and entertainers, the town was abuzz.

Many of those who attended donned headbands made of hops while
others came in their costumes such as traditional morris dancing
outfits. One man was even dressed as a woman in a pink dress.

Sunday saw a procession through the town from the train station
to through the town centre and ended at Court Street. It included
vintage vehicles, Shepherd Neame’s horse dray, two marching bands,
a jazz band, street entertainers, carnival queens and princesses
and group of actors putting on costumed plays.

Organiser Ernie Warner said: “From the public’s point of view,
the festival went very well. Lots of people came and thoroughly
enjoyed it.”
