Hundreds of naked cyclists will bare all today, when they ride through the streets of Canterbury in their birthday suits.

The city’s first annual World Naked Bike Ride will take as a protest against the planet’s dependency on oil.

It is one of many rides taking place as part of the international World Naked Bike Ride movement, which also aims to highlight the vulnerability of cyclists on the road.

It has previously been held in cities including Bristol, Brighton, Portsmouth, Southampton and London, but today’s event will be the first of its kind in Canterbury.

Riders will assemble at Victoria Memorial Recreation Ground in Knight Avenue from 2pm, and the ride will start at 3pm.

There will be four laps of the city centre, which will pass landmarks including the Westgate Towers and Canterbury Cathedral.

Everyone is invited to attend - although nudity is not mandatory - and under 16s must be accompanied by an adult.
