As many as 10 police officers were spotted running down a quiet village road before storming a home as part of a drug investigation.

Residents saw the officers moving quickly on foot along Laburnum Lane, Sturry, at about 8.30am today prior to raiding a property.

A van and two police cars remain outside the property in Laburnum Lane, Sturry, following the raid

They say the police, including two dog handlers, were immediately followed by a van and two police cars - which are still stationed outside the house near Canterbury.

A police spokesman has since confirmed the operation was part of a probe into alleged drugs offences.

A neighbour, 70, said: "There were a number of policemen and a couple of dogs sprinting around the corner and down the road.

"They went into the property and then the cars came round and the officers in them also went inside.

"I was shocked - you just don't expect to see it.

Neighbours say they saw several police officers "sprinting" along Laburnum Lane before storming the home

"I haven't seen anything else at all since then. It was all very quiet - it looked like a planned thing."

Another resident says he was eating a bowl of cornflakes when he saw the officers pass by his window this morning.

And one other neighbour only realised the raid was being carried out when she heard dogs barking outside.

A police spokesman said: "We attended a property in Laburnum Lane, Sturry, this morning.

"It was part of an ongoing investigation into alleged drugs offences."

Residents also saw dog handlers entering the Sturry house
