A mum has described the "sheer panic" she felt after she dropped her car keys inside the car during the school run, leaving her six-month-old baby trapped inside.

The mum was taking her other child to school in Canterbury when the incident happened, and said that when she walked around from one side of the car to the other, she dropped the keys inside the locked car.

In every parent's worst nightmare, she called the fire brigade, who were called out and managed to release the baby from the car.

On a post on social media the mother said: "Yesterday in a rush for the school run, I managed to lock my six-month-old baby in the car with the keys.

"I had put her in the car and walked to the other side to drive off to the school and dropped the keys inside. I did not leave her their while I went into the school.

"I can't begin to describe the sheer panic that came over me. I phoned the fire service and within five minutes of making the call they had my beautiful baby out of the car and back into my arms.

"I can't express how grateful I am to them for their quick response and rational thinking."
