Firefighters tackle car fire in Newton Road in Faversham

Emergency crews are currently tackling a car fire in Faversham.

The blaze started in the silver Volkswagen Polo parked near Newton Place Surgery in Newton Road at 1.30pm.

The road was closed while firefighters dealt with the blaze

One fire engine rushed to the scene to find flames and smoke billowing from underneath the car.

Police say the blaze was caused by a fault with the engine. No one was inside the car at the time.

Newton Road has been closed to traffic while crews deal with the fire.
