A football match in aid of a charity which looks after severely disabled children has raised more than £1,000.

Oscar Evans Old Duffers took on the kmfm All Stars at Whitstable FC’s Belmont Ground on Sunday afternoon in aid of the Kentish Gazette and kmfm's charity of the year Kent Kids Miles of Smiles, based in Stodmarsh Road, Cantertbury.

The match was organised by Oscar Evans of the Royal Antediluvian Order of Buffaloes, an organisation which helps community projects and groups, and kmfm DJ Bob Mower. Around 200 people turned up to watch.

Kent Kids’ head of fundraising Liz Baxter said: “It was really good day and we really appreciate all those who came along to watch or play.

“The match was a lot of fun and I would really like to thank Bob and Oscar for organising it.”

X-Factor star Ben Mills, who hails from Whitstable, played for the kmfm All Stars and has agreed to act as patron for Kent Kids.

The All Stars beat the Old Duffers 8-1.
