Canterbury: Pure Gym in Sturry Road searched by police in hunt for firearm

A gym was searched by police amid fears a firearm was in the building.

Officers scoured Pure Gym off Sturry Road, Canterbury on Wednesday after a suspected weapon was seen being removed from a car in Whitstable earlier that day.

A 17-year-old boy and 25-year-old woman from Canterbury were taken into custody on suspicion of possessing a firearm.

The woman was also arrested on suspicion of possessing a class B drug.

No weapon has yet been recovered and the suspects have been released pending further investigation.

Police say no threats or injuries were reported.

Pure Gym is the city's newest gym following its opening in December last year.
