Rower Dan Ritchie will line up again in Great Britain men’s gold medal-winning men’s eight at the next World Cup event in Munich this month.

GB will be hoping to repeat their surprise success at Lake Bled in Slovenia last week, when they won nine golds, six silvers and one bronze.

Ritchie, 23, a member of Herne Bay RC, stroked the team, including former Olympic champions Greg Searle and Pete Reed, for the first time to beat Holland and Poland.

GB were fourth at 1,000m, but closed on the Dutch around 500m from the finish with Poland taking bronze.

Ritchie, pictured, said: “I have never stroked an eight before, and to do that with two Olympic champions sitting behind me was a great experience.”

He will be in an unchanged line-up in Munich with injured Ashford rower Tom Ransley needing time to recover.

The event in Germany is followed by the Henley Regatta and the World Cup finals in Lucerne in July.

The British squad will then take a break, before preparing for the World Championships in New Zealand in November.
